Located in the south-east of Brussels, Watermael-Boitsfort is a rich and green municipality. The immediate proximity of the Forêt de Soignes as well as the numerous green spaces and parks offer a real serenity and attract many inhabitants thanks to its charm and village spirit.
Watermael-Boitsfort has been able to combine economic prosperity and family spirit over the years and has become one of the most sought-after communities in Brussels.
Moreover, the word « community » is not taken lightly here. One only has to look at the wide range of communal initiatives managed by the inhabitants themselves, such as the community vegetable gardens, the organisation of parties in the squares or barbecues between neighbours.
Often surrounded by gardens, the homes in this municipality are very popular with families, who find an ideal living environment, numerous transport facilities and a range of extra-curricular activities for the youngest.
The number of renowned schools is one of the main reasons for moving to Watermael-Boitsfort. From the International School, to the Assumption, to the Saint-Hubert College and the municipal schools, the choice is vast!
In particular, the area around Keym Square, in combination with the Dries district (on the other side of the railway), benefits as much from the attractiveness of the commercial offer and the facilities offered around the square as from the picturesque charm of the neighbouring streets.
Every Wednesday (from 3pm to 8pm), you can visit the market on the Place Keym, which specialises in local produce, buy pretty bouquets of flowers from Bloom Moon or take advantage of the advice and tastings at the friendly Maison des Vins.
For your taste buds, we recommend a brunch at the Rhubarb Café or to come and taste the gourmet nuggets of the Pura Vida salon.
Sports enthusiasts can unwind at the Trois Tilleuls centre (tennis courts, padel or basquet) or swim in the 33-metre Calypso 2000 pool.
There are many transport facilities in the district. The Watermael or Boitsfort train stations (line 161 Brussels – Namur), bus lines 17, 41 or 95 or the Beaulieu metro will allow you to quickly reach the other parts of the Capital or Brabant-Wallon.
Finally, the district is full of large green spaces to let the little ones run around or recharge their batteries. The main parks to discover are the Parc de la Héronnière, the Parc du Jagersveld, which is more undulating and designed in the English style, and above all the Parc Tournay-Solvay, one of the most beautiful parks in the Brussels-Capital Region. This park, which was once part of the Forêt de Soignes, has a range of different areas and is characterised by its steep slopes: an English garden at the top, a more natural forest on the slopes and two ponds in the valley. Then there is an orchard which precedes a privately managed vegetable garden.
